COVID-19 RESPONSE
During the Summer of 2020 Black Community of Portland partnered with a
number of Black-Owned Businesses to provide relief to community members
who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
We will continue to share resources to alleviate the burden of the pandemic throughout 2021.
SOUL CARE AND WELLNESS PROJECT
BCP purchased handmade face masks from Nerdy Chicks Who Sew, incense by V Natural and hygiene products as well as household cleaning supplies from the Traveling Pillar.
The community members who signed up for the Soul Care and Wellness Project received a gift box containing all the items listed, along with other essentials. The program also provided virtual fitness classes, online cooking classes and financial literacy classes. All classes were free and open to the community.
Our intention was to help “feed the soul” of our community members. We believe that providing products and free classes would uplift the spirits of our community members. The classes created a safe and interactive environment for those who had fitness/nutritional goals. Also, it provided an opportunity for members seeking financial literacy to become more equipped to manage their finances and meet their financial goals.

NUTRITION AND WELLNESS INITIATIVE
In conjunction with the Soul Care and Wellness Project, BCP leads a Nutrition and Wellness Initiative. As part of the initiative, BCP partnered with other non-profit organizations such as Sunshine Division and Feed The Mass.
Our Volunteers deliver food boxes, face masks, hand sanitizer and free testing information to members of the community who are dealing with food insecurity. Weekly, we have been able to provide 150 food boxes for families and 150-300 hot meals for our homeless community. Though funding has been exhausted we are working diligently to continue to aid our community members.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TODAY!
With your consistent contribution to our organization, we will be able to continue doing this extraordinary work. In the upcoming year we aim to provide; financial literacy workshops, outdoor exploration activities for the youth, civic engagement workshops, hot meal distribution & delivery to the homeless, and culturally specific events such as Kwanzaa & Juneteenth, on a quarterly basis.
